“The beehive thing is pretty amazing, and there are so many talented people helping out with it that it almost makes me want to barf (in a good way).” —

Blank Artists Blog Mentions Us! → blankartists.blogspot.com

Our neighbors and friends gave us a little shout out! Click the link to see what they have to say.

Blank Artists was born in 2005 as an art/music collective and has since grown to underline the cherished relationship between the aural and visual disciplines.

“The giant beehive will function as a large sculpture, an intimate gathering space, and will also serve as a metaphor for the city of Detroit by referencing the hive as an ideal model for community. Historically, beehives have been associated with industry, diverse cooperation, and resourcefulness. Honey, their primary output, has traditionally symbolized the restoration of health, yearning for sweetness, and rebirth. These associations reference aspects of Detroit’s history while also serving as symbols of hope and vision for the future of the city.”

What We Need

“What Detroiters do not need is yet another story about how their city is dying – or even another story declaring there may be hope after all. What they need is what every community needs: resources, support and the space to work through their problems in their own way.”
